Housing Assistant Manager

The Fisher House Program provides temporary accommodations and support for families, support persons and Caregivers of Veterans and Active Duty Military receiving treatment at major military and VA medical facilities. VA Fisher House accommodations are provided at no cost to guests and located within walking distance of the treatment facility. The Assistant Housing Manager assists the Fisher House Manager with on-site management, planning, operation coordination of the Fisher House Program. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides support to community, guest, patient, military liaison and clinical staff inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and standards. Coordinates Fisher House events and supply management, which requires knowledge and understanding of appropriated and non-appropriated accounts, to include general post funds. Applies knowledge of appropriated and non-appropriated accounts to secure needed items and supplies. Works with management on bids and contract requests for refurbishment budgets provided by the Fisher House foundation. Prepares and plans various programs and activities in support of the guests. Updates and maintains all established files, daily logs to include equipment and supplies. Assess and handle urgent situations and take appropriate actions as needed. Monitors cleanliness and safety of the facility through daily observation of communal living areas as directed, guest room checks as needed. Prepares and tracks work orders for the facility. Extracts, summarizes and compiles information and assist in the development of resource materials to promote program awareness among Veterans and their families, as well as the general population. Assists with the financial and managerial processes involved with the Fisher House program. Assists with building and managing workforce based program goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs. Develops and manages long and short range Fisher House budgets, including costs of daily operations, maintenance and periodic refurbishments. Reviews current expenditures of operations and maintenance functions, estimating cost, developing and managing the annual budget. Maintains database to ensure accuracy of currently lodged guests, upcoming departures and needs for extension, cancellations and re-bookings, daily room availability, and all projected lodging needs. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
formulation, planning, and execution of an operating budget; reviewing and monitoring expenditures; estimating costs, developing, and managing an annual budget; managing fund control points; data analysis and preparation of various reports; managing financial, operational and managerial processes; coordinating documentation and clinical application support for referrals; running and analyzing reports from a variety of applications; knowledge and understanding of appropriated and non-appropriated accounts. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the competencies necessary to do the work of this position. Work is generally sedentary; however, it requires a fair amount of standing, walking, walking up and down steps, and bending. The Housing Manager may be required to approximately lift 25-50 lbs. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
