The health technician duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Perform venipunctures on outpatients & inpatients by correctly identifying patients as to name, social security number, etc., selecting appropriate collection devices (i.e., proper collection tube, appropriate anticoagulant, etc.) and taking any necessary precautions in specimen preparation; Instruct patients in proper procedure for 24 hour urine collection; Collect random urine specimens; Distribute specimens to laboratory section in which requested tests are performed; Collect and washes laboratory glassware and returns clean glassware to- appropriate storage areas. Is responsible for operation of glassware washer and drying oven; Maintain and files laboratory reports; Maintain, copy, and distribute worksheets to appropriate areas; Store, record and organize general laboratory supplies and materials in an efficient manner; Adhere to safety, infection control, and universal precautions at all times while drawing blood. This includes such things as replacing bed rails, removing tourniquets and wearing gloves. Must be proficient in the area of phlebotomy, being able to draw all but the most difficult patients and follows proper procedures for redrawing blood. In additions, must develop the essential speed required to complete the blood drawing duties; Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

This position requires a great deal of standing, walking and in some instances reaching and lifting. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-04 grade level:
One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
laboratory procedures, ability to perform venipunctures, collecting and prepare specimens, maintain and file reports, answering phones. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-04 level. Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-04. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
