Supervisory Medical Support Assistant

The incumbent will supervise thirty five (35) employees; one GS 7 Lead Clerk, one GS 6 Lead Clerk, and thirty three (33) GS 4/5/6 clerks.
All employees are in the 679 Title 38 Hybrid Series, Medical Support Assistant and are dispersed as indicated:
Huntington, twenty one (21); Charleston, seven (7); Prestonsburg, four (4); Gallipolis, two (2); and Lenore, one (1).
The incumbent is responsible for all matters pertaining to administrative functions within these areas and for controlling and coordinating the activities related to reception, check in/out and disposition of outpatients and the entry and reporting of related workload activity.
Incumbent is responsible for analyzing the workflow and problems to establish and develop operational procedures that ensure proper functioning of all organizational components.
Must recommend changes in policy and procedures, is responsible for compliance with congressional legislation, VHA directives, and/or local system policy.
Plans, implements, and evaluates all programs, including systematic review, monitoring of performance improvement, space utilization, equipment management, and systems analysis.
The incumbent ensures the timely completion of these required reviews for the Units.
Identifies, coordinates, and conducts training in work management, performance evaluation, patient and medical records processing, workload data entry and reporting, phone etiquette and phone customer service, and other related patient administration activities.
Responsible for maintaining a schedule for the Unit that provides adequate coverage at all times required.
Incumbent is responsible for effective management to ensure that work is organized and assigned among assigned positions in a manner that serves the section most efficiently.
Analyzes functions required to effectively accomplish the processing of patients and assigns priorities in order to ensure timely services.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
