20096-0 The position is primarily located in the Recruitment and Staffing Section, but will also provide direct support to specialists working on position management, workforce planning, benefits, pay administration, information systems, and/or office automation support and assistance.
Incumbent may be assigned to a specific HR functional area as required for continuity, but provides assistance to other areas as needed.
Primarily, the HR assistant works with 5 HR Specialists on a staffing team and provides technical and clerical support in recruitment and placement activities.
Duties may include but not limited to developing new vacancy announcements and applying qualification standards and ranking procedures for a wide variety of clerical and technical positions for external and internal recruitment actions, coordinates VA work-study program and vocational rehabilitation program, make job offers, arrange for application completion of pre-employment requirements, responds to walk-in customers seeking employment, maintains recruitment supplies and materials, attends training and job fairscareer days as needed.
Works with managers/supervisors throughout the medical center providing technical advice and assisting with the recruitment of approved positions within set timeframes and deadlines.
Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
