MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (Construction)

Evening shift - tour of duty/work hours will be negotiated at time of appointment to position.

Position Description Title/PD#:
20043-A The incumbent will perform duties as a maintenance mechanic mainly but not inclusively related to construction projects throughout the VA medical center campus buildings and VA outpatient clinics where carpentry and painting jobs are needing to be accomplished.
Incumbent is responsible for selection of materials and tools for the job and maintains inventory levels of supplies.
Will be expected to determine most appropriate and efficient techniques, appropriate tools, prioritize work sequence and coordinate jobs and/or projects with staff in area to be affected to minimize interruption of work or patient care access.
Carpentry duties may include, but not limited to, the following:
performs carpentry alterations, erection of partitions (wood or metal), furring out walls, hanging drywall, hanging doors, repairs/constructs window screens, screen doors and storm windows and doors and builds forms of concrete.
Installs and repairs all types of floor coverings such as asphalt, vinyl tile, wood floors and carpenting.
Assembles shelves, assembles and installs furniture, moves furniture, etc.
Painting duties may include, but not limited to, the following:
painting interior and exterior of buildings and rooms, touch-up jobs, hanging wall coverings, paint lawn and recreational equipment, cabinets, etc.
Requires knowledge of application of latex, enamel, polyurethane, epoxy, metallic's, acrylics, urethane varnish, stains and wallpaper pastes and glues.
Assembles and installs shelving, both wood and metal.
Designs and constructs special furniture and equipment items.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
