Supply Clerk

The incumbent is responsible for inventory management as it is related to distribution of expendable supplies, reusable medical equipment and instruments to internal customers and external customers.
The Supply Clerk must have a broad general knowledge of medical supplies, equipment and instruments a thorough understanding of aseptic procedures as it relates to sterile packaging and sterile environment.
This position is located administratively in Logistics Service, Inventory Management Section but the incumbent's duties and responsibilities are exercised throughout assigned clinical or patient care areas of the medical center and campus facilities.
The Supply Clerk also provides support to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) preparing medical supplies and equipment for transport.
The incumbent assures that an on-hand level of stock is available for customer use focusing on efficiency of delivery and ease of visually locating and retrieving the item needed.
Incumbent communicates with the Logistics Item Manager(s) and other customers to better analyze their needs, reviews distribution methods and solves problems to afford equitable distribution of supplies within available storage space and available resources.
The goal of these activities is to keep operating services supplied with needed items without providing more stock than is required.
In the event of an Item Manager vacancy the Supply Clerk is responsible for coordinating customer support for assigned areas.
The incumbent is responsible for conducting regularly scheduled inventory and restock of medical supplies throughout the medical center, conducting physical inventory counts, recording inventory needs, delivering inventory requirements, maintaining clean storage areas and rotating stock appropriately.
The incumbent sets priorities to meet established time frames and deadlines and communicates his/her activities with co-workers and other functional programs to assure that customer expectations and needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
