Position DetailsPosition Information Banner Position Number R10380 Position Title College Access Advisor Classification Title MURC-Other Bus Operations Spec Department Enrollment Management - RC2600 Job Description TheCollege Access Advisor will assist the Director in implementing the TRIO Heart of Appalachia Talent Search (HATS) Program following the proposed operating plan approved by the United States Department of Education.
Specific Duties - Responsible for recruitment, retention, and participation of program participants according to federal regulations and departmental guidelines.
- Assists with planning and coordination, implementation, chaperoning, and evaluation of academic, social, and cultural programs for students and families.
- Visit target schools regularly to host workshops and to assess students' and program's needs- Assists the Director with the compilation of materials for the Annual Performance Report for the U.
S.
Department of Education- Serve as the liaison among target communities, the target schools, the university, and the program- Represent the university and the HATS Program at state, regional, and national professional meetingsThis position is grant-funded, considered at-will employment, and depends on continued federal funding of the HATS grant.
The current grant runs through August 31, 2026, with the potential for renewal every five years.
Location MURC - Marshall University Research Corporation Salary Range $34,500- $45,000- Salary is commensurate with experience and internal equityRequired Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field.
Experience Three years of professional experience assisting first-generation and low socio-economic students graduate high school and enroll in college- Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment- Excellent oral and written communication skills- Ability to utilize modern technology and communication platforms- Ability to work an irregular schedule, including in the evening and up to two weekends a month- Ability to perform all duties listed in the job description- Ability to be flexible and to adapt to the changing needs of the program- Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of disadvantaged participants and their familiesPreferred Qualifications Education Master's Degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
